What dances can I learn?
Any or all of the regular ballroom and latin dances. Waltz, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Tango, and Quickstep are the major “ballroom” dances, and Samba, Rhumba, Cha Cha, Jive (or Swing), Mambo, and Salsa are the latin dances. Additionally, we’re happy to teach you any variety of swing dancing. Lindy Hop and Boogie Woogie are our favorites, but Collegiate Shag, Balboa, West Coast Swing, and East Coast Swing are all options too! Not sure what you want to learn? We’ll help you figure it out.

What should I wear for my lesson?
The major requirement is that you wear comfortable clothing. This means different things to different people (which is okay!), but do think about it. Tight, non-stretchy jeans are not going to get your money’s worth out of the lesson, you know? You should be able to move pretty freely, through both your legs and arms.

For shoes, again, comfort is key. Eventually, you may want to invest in a nice pair of ballroom dance shoes, but that isn’t a necessity. (They can be purchased locally, or more cheaply on the internet, however.) Flip flops or really clunky shoes are not your best bet. If you’re happiest in socks, we won’t object, but you may get your toes accidentally stepped on, and that can hurt (worse) if you’re barefoot! Sneakers (without too much grip) or dress shoes are good options.

What kind of experience does my instructor have?
Over 10 years’ experience teaching and dancing. I’ve had experience teaching private lessons, and groups of all ages and sizes. Additional experience includes competing with ballroom, latin, and swing teams, and coaching and choreographing for such teams.

My wedding is coming up soon. Can I learn to dance for it?
Weddings, proms, and all sorts of parties are great reasons to learn to ballroom dance. Be sure to tell me your goal, and I can have you dancing for your special event! If you would like, I can choreograph a routine, just for you, to the music of your choice, for you to perform.

Can I buy a gift certificate for my friend/spouse/other?
Yes. Gift certificates are available. Contact us for more information or to purchase.

How long will it take me to learn?
That really depends on how fast you “naturally” learn, and how much you practice. Shows like Dancing With The Stars have given people an unrealistic sense of how long it takes to learn to dance. While the show’s stars may “learn” one or more dances per week, they’re being coached 5 or more hours per day! You will not master every bit of Waltz in a single hour long group class.
That being said, even if you have only a small amount of time before your special day, even one or two lessons can make a big difference.
